NHS BLOOD TEST TUBE NATIONAL SHORTGAGE

We do apologise for the delay you have experienced in having your blood test.

NHS England has been advised of a global shortage of some equipment used commonly for taking blood tests in the NHS.

On the 26th August we received a letter from NHS England advising us that all blood tests must be halted until 17 September 2021, except for clinically urgent testing.

Given the international nature of the shortage, an exact date for when routine testing will be rescheduled cannot yet be provided but the NHS will be working to re-book appointments for postponed tests when supplies become more easily available.

Patients are advised that where their condition or symptoms change or get worse, they should contact the NHS team caring for them.

If your condition or symptoms change or get worse, please contact the NHS as you would normally.

Examples of clinically urgent testing include:

  • Bloods that are required to facilitate a suspected cancer referral
  • Bloods that are extremely overdue and/or essential for safe prescribing of medication or monitoring of condition
  • Bloods that if taken could avoid a hospital admission or prevent an onward referral
  • Those with suspected sepsis or conditions with a risk of death or disability

Healthwatch Survey for Bromley Patients

The Covid-19 pandemic and lockdowns have affected people’s access to their GP surgeries. We want to hear from you about your experience of booking and attending appointments at your GP practice since lockdown restrictions were lifted on 19 July 2021.  We would also like to know about your experience of care after 19 July 2021 including online bookings and video and phone consultations.

All responses are anonymous and the findings will be shared with decision-makers such as the South East London Clinical Commissioning Group, to help improve GP services for all in the London Borough of Bromley.

The closing date for the survey is 30th August 2021 at 5pm.

If you know anyone who would like to fill it out but can’t do it online, Healthwatch Bromley are happy to provide paper copies of the survey. The filled out copies can be send back to the team using a freepost address by writing ‘Freepost YVHSC’ on an envelope (no stamp needed).   Bromley residents can also call the Healthwatch team who will help them fill out the survey.

We are your health and social care champion. We make sure NHS leaders and other decision-makers hear your voice and use your feedback to help improve services. Please click here for more information.
